Pennsylvania lawmakers have approved to a
slots facility at the Valley Forge Convention Center, located in
suburban Philadelphia.
The parlor will allow for 500 machines at a facility which already has 488 hotel rooms and 85,000 square feet of operational space.
Valley Forge Convention Center Partners was granted one of two licenses that Pennsylvania is awarding to resorts. The chairman of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board praised the Valley Forge application.
“Despite the tightened credit market, Valley Forge was able to demonstrate to the Gaming ControlBoard that it has obtained firm financial commitments for its project,” said Chair Mary DiGiacomo Colins.
The board also voted to continue to consider another slots application for the Fernwood Hotel and Resort in the Poconos. Politicians in Pennsylvania approved slots legislation in 2004, as a way of reducing local property taxes.
