Many states are losing interest in greyhound racing, but in the northeast, it is still quite popular.

Over the objections of the state's governor, Don Carcieri, lawmakers are moving to force the bankrupt gambling parlor Twin River to run 200 days of live racing.

The current law only requires 125 days of live racing.

Backers of the dog racing bill said it is necessary to save 225 jobs at the gambling facility, preserve tax revenue and retain the 5,000 people who visit the track each week.
